Measure your waist and your inseam, and compare with the size chart. These are the two measurements that decide whether work trousers fit. Here is how to measure, what J.A.K.'s sizes correspond to in cm, and what to check for fit, kneepad pockets and women's models.
How to measure
Waist
Measure with a flexible tape measure around the body where the trousers will sit. The tape must lie level and not be pulled tight. Measure on the body or over a thin layer of clothing, not over thick trousers or a belt full of tools.
Inseam
Measure the inside of the leg from the crotch down to the shoe. The easiest way is to measure the inside leg of a pair of trousers that already fit.
Hips and thighs
Measure around the widest part of the hips. If you have large thighs, choose a model with stretch or go up a size.
J.A.K.'s size chart for trousers
J.A.K. uses two systems depending on the model number. B is waist, and C is inseam (from crotch to shoe, along the inside of the leg). All measurements are in cm. The number in the size is not the waist measurement itself: size 76, for example, corresponds to a waist of 78 cm.

Inseam and the slash
Several trousers can be chosen in different leg lengths. At Mestershop you can see, for example, these from J.A.K.:
- 4-Way Stretch Trousers 1700: 77, 80/88, 82 and 90 cm
- 4-Way Stretch Trousers 1800: 80/88 cm
- 4-Way Stretch Women's Trousers 1830: 78/84 cm
The slash in, for example, 80/88 appears in J.A.K.'s tables and on the products, but J.A.K.'s size guide does not explain it. We therefore do not claim what it means. The table shows the same value in all sizes. Measure your own inseam, and call us if it is close to the figures or outside them.
Fit: stretch, waistband and legs
- Four-way stretch gives freedom of movement when squatting and kneeling.
- High waistband at the back covers your back when you bend over. J.A.K. 1800 has this.
- Adjustable waist: J.A.K.'s women's model 1830 has an adjustable waist, so you can fine-tune the fit.
- Try them on with tools in the pockets. A phone, tape measure and pencil take up space and can make a size feel too tight.
Kneepad pockets and kneepads
Kneepad pockets sit on the front of the legs and are made for kneepads, so your knees are relieved when working on your knees. The product texts for J.A.K. 1800 and the women's model 1830 mention Cordura-reinforced kneepad pockets. 1700 and 1601 have Cordura reinforcement at the knees and feet.
Kneepads are not included: the product texts for the trousers do not state that they are included. Mestershop sells J.A.K.'s kneepads as separate sets in two sizes, 16 x 25 cm and 14 x 24 cm. Which trousers they fit is not stated in the product texts, so ask us before ordering for a specific model. Check that the kneepad pockets sit where your knees are and that the inseam is right, so the pads do not end up too high or too low.
Work trousers for women
J.A.K. has women's models in trousers and hi-vis. The 4-Way Stretch Women's Trousers 1830 range from XS to 4XL and have a fit designed specially for women as well as an adjustable waist. Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my inseam?
Measure from the crotch down the inside of the leg to the shoe. Or measure the inside leg of a pair of trousers that already fit.
Is the size the same as the waist measurement?
No. At J.A.K., size 76 is, for example, a waist of 78 cm in the 16XX/17XX table, and size M in the 18XX table is 86 cm. Use the manufacturer's table.
What do B and C mean in J.A.K.'s size guide?
B is the waist, measured around the body where the trousers will sit. C is the inseam, measured from crotch to shoe, along the inside of the leg.
Are kneepads included with the trousers?
Not according to the product texts. Mestershop sells J.A.K.'s kneepads as separate sets.
Are there work trousers for women?
